Fall 2017 Interior Design Trends

Say goodbye to shorts and pink lemonade — it’s time for chunky knits and hot cocoa. Fall has arrived, and while we’re switching out our summer staples for their cozier counterparts, perhaps it’s time to switch things up at home, too.

From Pinterest to HGTV and everywhere in between, we’ve taken note of the best fall interior design trends to take advantage of in updating the look of your home this season.

Bold Colors

We’re taking a break from shades of white and grey, and opting for a bolder look. A simple coat (or two) of paint can create a major transformation in just about any space. Deep forest greens are popping up on kitchen cabinetry, while white walls are swapped out for rich chocolate browns and dramatic shades of black. Not ready for a major change? Add a pop of bold color with a colorful area rug.

Statement Ceilings

We all love a good accent wall, but have you considered an accent ceiling? Whether it’s textured in designer wallpaper, or tiled in vintage tin tile, don’t overlook the impact of a well thought-out ceiling. We also love the classic look of wooden beams or paneling.

Velvet

Nothing is quite as cozy as a touch of velvet. Equally welcoming, as it is luxurious — velvet’s versatile style lends itself well to a variety of aesthetics. Fresh and modern when paired with reclaimed wood, yet elegant when paired with more traditional furnishings. Best of all, it’s easy to incorporate velvet without making a huge investment. A few throw pillows will quickly and affordably transform your space.

Mixed Metals

From fixtures to frames, and even furniture — mixing metals can create an eclectic and sophisticated palette that makes your home feel unique. A brass faucet can look infinitely chic when paired with oil-rubbed bronze knobs and a chrome sputnik chandelier. Forget the rules and have fun with it!
