Install Luxury Vinyl Flooring

Think you can’t install your own flooring? Think again! Luxury vinyl flooring is so easy to install that some people do the entire installation by themselves.

Step 1: Decide which room you want to make over. Luxury vinyl flooring, sometimes called LVP for luxury vinyl plank, is perfect for bathrooms and laundry rooms. That’s because LVP is waterproof and extremely durable, yet comfortable underfoot.

Step 2: Pick your style. There are a ton of options when shopping LVP, ranging from wood-look to stone, wide plank to narrow, and from beige-browns to rust-red. Plus, RiteRug ships direct to your door. No lugging heavy boxes from store to car and car to house!

Step 3: Prep your room. This means moving furniture, sweeping, and cleaning, as well as gently removing any heat registers, trim, or transition pieces with a putty knife, hammer, and pry bar.

Step 4: Gather tools and start installing. It really is easy to install your own LVP once you know how to measure and start rows, as well as cut the planks. Some people watch online videos, however, you can get expert tips just by talking with one of our flooring experts.

By the way, if you choose to remove existing flooring, don’t forget to remove any glue that may be underneath it. Better yet, lay your luxury vinyl flooring right over top an existing hard surface floor. Easy peasy.

Step 5: Enjoy the incredible transformation. LVP modernizes any room while also giving you low-maintenance flooring that’s scratch-, stain-, and abrasion-resistant.

Cover a Play Area with Carpet Tiles

Whether you have littles, teens, or just yourself, everyone needs a place to relax. One of the fastest and easiest ways to update a playroom, game space, man cave, she-shed, or outdoor living room is to lay down carpet tiles, also called carpet squares.

Step 1: Determine the area. These peel-and-stick squares can fill an entire room or let you create your own area rug to define a space. Either way you, you won’t need a carpet pad because the cushion is already built in.

Step 2: Pick a pattern. Of course, you can use identical carpet squares to create a wall-to-wall carpet look. Or you can jazz things up a little by mixing and matching different colors or simply changing the orientation of the squares. To better visualize what the space will look like, sketch out a pattern, then color in the squares.

Step 3Shop carpet tiles. Here comes the fun part. Carpet tile is priced by the square foot with some even coming in at less than a dollar per sq. ft. No matter which style you choose, our carpet tiles are designed to be easy to clean, and able to withstand lots of foot traffic.

Step 4:  For best results, make sure to lay your base carpet tiles at the center of the space, before moving outward. You’ll want to have a sharp knife on hand to cut your carpet squares to fit around doors and heat registers. But don’t worry. Our carpet tiles are made so they won’t unravel when cut.

Add an Area Rug

This may be the quickest DIY ever: Lay down an area rug. From colorful to comfy and round to rectangular, there are so many choices when it comes to area rugs.

Step 1: Decide where you’ll put your area rug. Area rugs can perk up just about any room but are especially great for home offices and utilitarian spaces like entryways.

Step 2: Think about what you want your rug to do. Area rugs can define a space, add a pop of color or texture, or cozy up a room that has hard-surface flooring. Keep function in mind as you decide what size, shape, color, and pattern you want from your area rug.

Step 3: Measure your space. Keep in mind that you want a rug that fills up a room or space without overpowering it. Rectangle area rugs work well in just about any space, while runners are best for long hallways, in front of appliances, or between rooms to connect passageways. If you plan to put furniture on your area rug, make sure to leave a few inches on either side so you can see the color or pattern of the rug while seated. Also, small spaces can handle a 3’x5’ rug, but larger areas may need an 8’x10’ or larger size area rug.

Step 4: Shop area rugs. Browse all your options, looking at both shape and size. Because area rugs are so easy to change, they give you the freedom to be a little bolder or daring in your choices. So, stay open to color options and patterns that are a little outside your usual picks.

Step 5: Unfold or roll your new area rug. At RiteRug, we offer two choices: (1) rug-in-a-bag folded rugs that prevent those dreaded curled edges and (2) rolled area rugs that feel like plush carpet.

Either way, RiteRug Exclusive Area Rugs are both kid- and pet-friendly. Just vacuum and spot clean as needed.
