Love Your Laundry Room

For most of us, the idea of “laundry day” means piles of laundry, globs of sticky detergent, and hours of folding. Laundry is a thankless job — but someone’s got to do it!

So why not make the most your laundry room? A few inspired design elements can help transform this utility space into a laundry oasis.

To Stack, Or Not To Stack?

Just because your laundry room has been laid out in a particular way, doesn’t mean it’s the right way. Your stacked washer and dryer might ultimately work better side by side with a folding counter on top. Or maybe your side by side set should actually be stacked — allowing room for a shiny new hamper system.

Take a good look and your space and try to envision the best way to utilize it.

Go Bold With Tile

Your laundry room is the perfect place to experiment with that bold tile you’ve been eyeing on Pinterest. A marble hexagon, or playful ceramic style will create a focal point, and add visual interest when juxtaposed against the starkness of the washer and dryer.

Add Stylish Storage

It’s easy to find yourself under piles of towels and dryer sheets in a small laundry room — so smart storage is key. Cabinets will keep everything tucked neatly away, but a few wood shelves and some inexpensive baskets can also do the trick.

If bright bulky detergent bottles are ruining your color scheme, decant detergent into a beverage dispenser. You can even store laundry sheets and pods in lidded glass jars to complete the look!

Bring In A Backsplash

A colorful backsplash can add some visual delight when it’s time to get folding. If we’re going to stare at a wall — it might as well be pretty! Consider a cool aqua glass tile for a clean and airy look. But if bright colors aren’t your thing, go with a more traditional color that has an interesting twist — like a white herringbone mosaic!
