Once you've stepped back inside your home after getting freshly upgraded flooring, there's likely one big question lurking inside your mind: How can you KEEP your floors looking day-one beautiful?

Well, it all comes down to one simple thing: maintenance. So here are a few tips for taking care of your floors to maximize your investment and their lifespan:

1. Vacuum or sweep regularly:

Regularly vacuuming or sweeping can help remove dirt, dust, and debris that can scratch or damage your floors. No time to fit it in? Consider vacuums of the robotic variety! Just set it and forget it.

2. Use doormats:

Placing doormats at the entrances of your home can help keep whatever your footwear tracks in from being tracked all over your floors. And who doesn't love an excuse for a decorative mat moment?

3.  Use the right cleaning products:

Different types of flooring require different cleaning products. Be sure to use the appropriate cleaner for your specific flooring material. Taking an extra minute to read a label can save you the lasting heartache of damaging new floors.

4.  Use a mop or rag to clean spills and stains ASAP:

Spills and stains can damage floors if left untreated even for short periods. Use a mop or rag to clean them up immediately and avoid using excessive water or harsh chemicals. As a guideline, it's best to opt for rags soft enough for washing your face.

5.  Protect your floors from furniture:

Furniture can scratch and damage floors. To protect them, use felt pads under the legs of furniture and avoid dragging anything heavy across the floor. Safest bet? Grab a partner and reduce the risk.

6.  Use a humidifier:

Hardwood floors can become damaged by too much humidity. Use a humidifier to maintain a consistent level of humidity in your home.

7.  Refinish or reseal:

Hardwood floors should be refinished or resealed every 2 to 3 years to protect the wood from scratches and to maintain its good looks.

8.  Rotate rugs and carpets:

Rotating rugs and carpets can help to distribute wear and tear evenly and prolong their lifespan. It can also keep your home's interior looking fresh without additional investment!
