Our History

Founding and Early Years
Rite Rug was founded in 1934 by brothers Duke and Stanley Goldberg in Columbus, Ohio, with their first store at the corner of Cherry and High Streets. The store initially specialized in carpets and rugs and quickly earned a reputation for quality products and excellent customer service. During World War II, while the Goldberg brothers served in the U.S. Army, their sister Janet managed the business, ensuring its survival and growth during a challenging time.
Expansion and Innovation
The 1960s marked a period of significant growth for Rite Rug. The company introduced the innovative "Shopping at Home with Mr. Edwards" service, allowing customers to choose their flooring from samples brought directly to their homes. This service, now known as "In-Home Shopping," became a cornerstone of Rite Rug’s offerings and set the company apart from competitors. Over the years, Rite Rug expanded its product line to include hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl, and more, catering to an increasingly diverse customer base. By the 1990s, the company had solidified its presence as a dominant force in the Columbus area and began its nationwide expansion.
Modern Day Operations
Now operating as RiteRug Flooring, the company remains family-owned and operated, with Michael Goldberg serving as Chairman of the Board and Mickey Goldberg as CEO.
